The Fantom has highly superior weapons to the normal weapons of that day, and he also has extreme cunning, as we see by his tricking the countries into suspecting each other for war-mongering. A supposed loyalist to her Majesty's Empire is sent to fetch Allan Quatermain in an effort to track down the group who is trying to start the war. In a private and secret meeting, Quatermain meets who he is to be teaming up with on this mission. He is accompanied by Captain Nemo, Mina Harker, Rodney Skinner, Dorian Gray, Tom Sawyer, and Dr. Henry Jekyll (also Mr. Edward Hyde). Soon into their adventure they discover that the Fantom is behind these attacks, but there is more to this war than battle and cunning.
It's 1899 and 'The Fantom' is trying to start a World War. The job of preventing this from occurring is given to Allan Quatermain. During the briefing with 'M', Quatermain discovers that he will be working alongside a host of various characters, from the Invisible Man and Captain Nemo to Dorian Gray and Dr. Henry Jekyll). Together, they are the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
If you give the film a chance.. you&#39;ll love it.<br/><br/>Think of it… a handful of fantastic lit. characters all rolled into one film! Just the magnitude of that idea is incredible.<br/><br/>Sure, there are a few FX that leave a LOT to be desired, but I&#39;m willing to overlook it.<br/><br/>There is a keen bit of tension between Mina/Jekyll that I adored. It was barely mentioned, but fun to think about. Clearly she does not feel inclined to handsome young pups like Sawyer. More&#39;s the pity.<br/><br/>I&#39;m looking forward to a possible sequel and more extraordinary ideas!
Synopsis Spoiler! I have one word for this movie, `mediocre&#39;. If you need to waste 2 hours of your time, go to `The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen&#39;. However, my advice is for you to skip this movie. I hope Sean Connery who played Allan Quartermain enjoyed working on this film and made a lot of money, because I didn&#39;t get any pleasure in watching it. The film is about a group of so-called heroes that are brought together to save the world from a world war in 1899. The team includes several extraordinary characters from literature: Captain Nemo, Dorian Gray, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, a vampire, the invisible man, and an American secret service agent. They save Venice from being sunk by the movie&#39;s villain and stop the war. `What?&#39; Then they blow up the factory where the villain is manufacturing tanks, submarines, machineguns, and the formula for Mr. Hyde and the invisible man, must I go on. This was one very strange movie. I looked at my watch, twice. If I look at my watch during a movie, it means that I can&#39;t wait till the pain is over. From what I saw, they could have saved the money that was spent on this movie. I hope this movie doesn&#39;t hurt Sean Connery&#39;s career. 1/10
Even if, per Wilde, all art is quite useless, it need not be quite as useless as this.

From the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain although, in that novel, he is only a young boy No. Skinner mentions that he stole the formula from a scientist, most likely referring to the original Invisible Man. The reason for the change is because another company owned the rights to that character, whose original name is Hawley Griffin. No. Dorian Gray is killed by Mina Harker. Quatermain is stabbed in the back by Professor Moritarity. However, the movie ends with a witch doctor casting a spell over Quatermain&#39;s grave.No. In May 2015 it was announced the film is to get a reboot.Yes. Connery retired from show business after The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, however he continued to do some voice acting, playing the title character in the animated short <a href="/title/tt0851471/">Sir Billi (2012)</a> (2012). He calls himself the Fantom, but he turns out to be Professor James Moriarty.
